Leigh Siegfried: Hi, My name is Leigh Siegfried. I am with Opportunity Barks Behavior & Training. Today we are going to be working on teaching your dog to walk politely on a leash. We are going to look at the right kind of equipment that will help prevent pulling. We are going to also take a look at what may motivate your dog to walk for you and not pull on leash and then finally, some skills that you can apply in the real world. Tools that you will need to teach your dog to walk politely on a leash, you will need a Hungry Dog and lots of treats. Optional tools that are helpful will be a clicker, a bay bag or a treat pouch, anti-pulling equipment and a plain buckle or clip collar. Make sure your equipment is fitted properly and your dog is wearing the collar with ID tags so they can't slip out off. Opportunity Barks specializes in behavior problem solving and training for companion dogs. I have been a full-time dog-lady since 2003 and work on a daily basis with dogs and their owners and in that time, I have seen a lot of dogs that struggle with walking politely on a loose leash. So let's get started learning about Loose Leash Walking.
