Suzy Giordano Baxter: Hi! I am Suzy Giordano Baxter, also known as the Baby Coach. I am here to guide you in teaching your baby how to sleep through the night.

Now we're going to talk about the first through sixth week. Now you are home with your new baby. Your baby will come home from a hospital on a schedule. Make sure to keep that schedule and your log will help you with that.

Try to feed your baby no sooner than two-and-a-half hours, but allow your baby to go as far as four hours. You should keep that routine until the baby reach four weeks. You do wake a sleeping baby during the day, and night, let the baby set their own pace.

What's going to happen is once the baby reach the certain way, naturally he will give you stretches. By ensuring that he's getting the necessary amount during the day, he naturally will give those stretches at night. So do wake your baby up during the day, no sooner than two-and-a-half hours, but as far as four hours. This will be an adjustment period for the parent and the baby. Remember, your baby comes from a perfect environment to a not so perfect environment. So your baby will cry for various reasons. Just make sure you don't assume hunger is it all the time.

Try other things. Is your baby too hot? Is your baby too cold? Babies will tend to prefer to be in a upright position at this point. You cannot create a bad habit in the first six weeks. Your baby will cry for a need. So tend to every cry.

You cannot spoil a baby between the ages of one week through six weeks. So go ahead and hold your baby. These are the steps to take from week one through six. In the next segment, we're going to talk about week six through eight. Things are about to get tough.
