Scott Roewer: Hello! My name is Scott Roewer of solutionsbyscott.
com and I am a Certified Professional Organizer. Today, I am here to teach you how to organize your closet like a pro. In order to do that, we need a closet, so let's take a look at this one. As you can see we have got some work to do here, so we will be taking everything out of this closet. I will be removing the existing shelf and pole. Next, we will be downsizing and organizing the contents. I am going to install a new Elfa system from The Container Store. Finally, I will be putting everything back and this will be a professionally organized closet. And you will be able to do it at home when we are finished. In order to accomplish our project today, we are going to need some tools and that includes things to remove the shelf and pole. So we are going to need some hammers, knife and a putty knife to repair the wall. Additionally, we are going to need some things to deal with all these clothes and containers. Some things we are going to sort and downsize. A closet rod is also very helpful, but you can also throw clothes over the bed. So, I will get more into that later in the next segments. When organizing your closet, it's important to also be safe while doing it. As you can see here, there are some bins in here and they are probably pretty heavy. So if you are lifting anything, be sure to use your knees and lift with your legs. Also, if you are pulling things from overhead shelves, be careful nothing falls on you, so you don't get hurt. Additionally, if you are drilling holes in your walls, you want to make sure you wear safety goggles, and if you are standing on a ladder or step-stool, make sure it's sturdy. Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a Certified Professional Organizer working in the Washington, DC Metro Area. You can find me online at solutionsbyscott.
