Closet Organization - Sorting Through Clothing

com and we've been showing you how to organize your closet like a pro. We're going to continue that now by taking a look at this wardrobe. We have some problems here. Clothes are hanging on improper hangers. There wasn't enough hangers to go around and there is that dreaded wire hanger. No more wire hangers. So let's take a look and see what some of the problems are. I'd like to start out here with this jacket. We've got two things wrong here. A, it's being stored in a dry clean bag. If moisture gets underneath here, it's going to be staying under the bag, bacteria will grow, mold may grow, any stains that were once there are now going to come back and they maybe intensified. So you should always get rid of dry cleaning bags. Plus you're going to have a lot more space in your closet.

Problem two, as you may have guessed it, the wire hanger. These are not strong enough. They damage your clothes, they do not hold the shape and there is a reason why they're free. So get rid of your wire hangers. Instead this coat should be hanging on a nice, sturdy wood hanger. Like this one here. So I'm going to go ahead and replace it, put it back on our rack. In the closet, there were lots of t-shirts and these were actually folded very nicely. However, my rule is anything you can hang, you should hang it. It's going to last longer because the hanger will keep better shape. Additionally, although you can see the color, you can't see if it's a printed t-shirt, what's on the front. So we're going to be putting these on hangers. Now I brought with me some of the very popular huggable hangers and these are from The Container Store and that's what we're going to be putting these t-shirts on. So I'm going to go ahead and slip a few right on. One rule I have is that when you hang your t-shirts, or your shirts with collars, try to keep the front of the shirt facing the same direction. So I always do the hook to the left. I'll see if this fits in here without stretching the shirt out. Very good. So the hook is to the left and when they hang in the closet, all of my shirts will be facing the same direction. Let's do another one here. Same thing. We're going to hang it so it faces to the left, grab another hanger, we're going to continue this process until it's finished. But for now let's move on to a few other things. In your closet, not only do you have pants and shirts, but this gentleman has some ties and all those are staying on here, I've picked up a lot of ties off the floor. So instead I brought him something to help out. This is a very simple tie rack, your ties slide over the end, they're held in place and these also fold the side. So it's going to fit streamlined in your closet really well and not take up very much space at all. So all of his ties are going to go on this tie rack. In addition to ties, belts. Remember belts take up about 50 inches of hanging space. But it's kind of a pain when you have to hang them all over the same hanger. So guess what? I brought him a belt hanger, very simple, same style. This just hooks over the end. Much faster. You could put black belts on one side, brown belts on another. But this is going to help you get in and out of your closet faster and you'll spend less time picking them up off the floor. So belts, problem solved.

Slacks. What's the problems here people? Yes, wire hangers. So we're going to get rid of the wire hanger, and we will be putting that over some more of the wood hangers. These are great because the bottom of them is ripped. So the pants are going to stay in there and not fall off.

So we need to make sure all of our clothes are on proper hangers, proper accessory storage, and I'll be showing you how to organize your clothes in the closet when we get back in the space.
