Jim Connors: Hi! My name is Jim Connors and I am with Rheem Manufacturing Company. Today, we are here BGE HOME and I am going to show you how to maintain your water heater properly. I will show you how to perform regular maintenance for a gas water heater and for an electric water heater.

Before we begin, remember to always consult your product owners manual and take proper safety precautions when working on or around your water heater. Also, consider consulting a plumbing professional or contractor before taking on any project.

Water heating can account for up to a third of a home's totals energy usage. An old inefficient or not properly maintained water heater can increase your energy bills. Properly maintained your water heater will provide years dependable trouble free service. Establish a regular routine maintenance schedule and schedule periodic inspections by qualify maintenance personnel to ensure years of reliable operation.

Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been in the water heating industry for about 18 years and I have worked for Rheem in many capacities. Rheem is one of the world's leading providers of water heating in HVAC equipments. Currently, I am a national account manager for Rheem, but I have also been involved in product development of both tank type and tankless water heaters.
