As result, replacing your tired old water heater with new energy efficient model maybe the best way to improve your water heating efficiency.
Comparing water heater by looking at the energy factor or EF. The EF is printed on the carton label. The EF is the calculation of the water heater overall efficiency performance. It takes into consideration the gallon capacity and fuel type among other factors. The higher the EF, the better. If you have a gas water heater, look for a water heater with an EF of at least 0.
62. If you have an electric water heater, look for an EF of at least .
94.
You can also compare water heating operating cost by looking at the yellow EnergyGuide label included with every water heater. The EnergyGuide label provides an estimated annual operating cost for each model. It is based on national average fuel cost, so your actual cost may vary. The easiest way to select the more efficient model maybe the look for the ENERGY STAR label. In January 2009 the U.
S. Department of Energy launched an ENERGY STAR program for water heaters. The ENERGY STAR program is designed to promote better performing water heating equipment.
ENERGY STAR water heaters are easily identified by the ENERGY STAR logo on the carton and the water heater. Look for this label when selecting a new model. I hope these tips help you and your family get them most energy saving available with your water heater and thanks for watching.
