Terry Dean: Hi! I am Terry Dean from Terry Dean Dance Studio. Today we are working on Salsa. Now we are going to do an Open Break and an Underarm Turn. An Open Break is where we take your basic step which is in close position where we lean in towards each other and we are doing our basic step which is rotating to the left and we got it going then what we are going to do is as the after the man does his back rock, he is going to separate on his side step to come to open position. So this is close position, this is going to be open position. So I am going to do this slowly so you can see. I am going to do rock-step-step, rock-step-step-open. So now we are open and we are both going to do a back rock, rock-step. So we are going to do that again. Quick-quick-slow, Quick-quick-slow, Quick-quick-slow, from here the lady is going to do an underarm turn, quick-quick-slow, and back to your basic quick-quick-slow-and, quick-quick-slow, open break, underarm turn, back to the basic. Okay, so what happens is the man again is doing the basic step rock-step-step-tap, rock-step-step-tap, instead of doing the forward rock he is going to do a back rock. Back rock side, he still does his little tap, he does the underarm turn, rock-step-step-tap, and then rocks into her after he turns. So he is going to do after he does his first basic rock-step-step-tap, rock-step-step-tap, then he is going to do a back break and separate, rock-step-step-tap, rock-step-step-tap, and picks her back up after she has turned. So its important that he gets the separation and then he just picks ups his left hand but he is just basically just doing the same step over. So he goes quick-quick-slow-and, quick-quick-slow-and separate, turn her and pick her back up. The ladies, they are going to be doing the natural opposite so they are going to be doing the basic steps, rock-step-step-and, rock-step-step-and, same back rock, rock-step-step-and and he is going turn her, rock-step-step-and, and then back in to the back rock. Quick-quick-slow-and, quick-quick-slow, she crosses her left foot in front her right foot twists around and comes back to the side and then back in to a back rock. Lets demonstrate that again, starting from the basic step, back rock step, rock-step-step-open break, underarm turn, back to the basic. Now remember the basic rotates left, open break separates, underarm turns while he does the back rock and then back together, quick-quick-slow-and, quick-quick-slow-and, quick-quick-slow, she goes under and back to the basic. The most important thing is to make sure you maintain your rhythm so its Quick-quick-slow, Quick-quick-slow, even if your feet are not exactly in the right place if you keep the correct rhythm you will at least be on the correct foot and then you will get better at placing your feet a lot better. The next thing we are going to do is the basic Scallop.
