Hi, I am Captain Steve Chaconas with National Bass Guide Service. A lot of people ask me why am I a bass Fishing guide. Well, I will tell you, I get the opportunity to fish with some of the best in the business. I have been able to take out top pros across the country, maybe show them a little thing or two about a specific fishery; but more importantly, I have been able to introduce people who have never fished before, and everybody in between, to this great sport of fishing. A lot of times people come out here with the notion that fishing is all luck; it is all skill. The only luck involved in fishing is not falling out of the boat. I try to teach all the skills involved; and one of the things that is really important is, how to use the tools that we have. These tools we call fishing lures. Fishing lures vary. We start with the top waters; the baits that pop, spit, chug, walk, buzz across to the surface to elicit exciting top water bites. Then we go to crankbaits; these are lures that will dive and wiggle and rattle at various depths and at various speeds in a lot of different sizes, shapes and colors. From there we go to the spinnerbaits; these glittery, flashy, vibrating lures that come flying through the water at various speeds and various depths can elicit very strong and aggressive strikes for fish. But the king of all artificial lures are the soft plastics; they come in shapes of worms, frogs, lizards, crawfish. You name it, if there is a creature out there, it comes in a soft plastic allowing you to fish a variety of different techniques at a lot of different depths under different occasions. Hopefully, we will be able to cover a variety of these lures so that you will be able to fish at different depths during different times of the seasons, and at different times during the day. Just remember though, that fishing lures dont catch fish; fishermen catch fish, and fishing lures only catch fishermen. I am Steve Chaconas - all that coming up next.
