Kristy Kalnitzky: Hi! I'm Kristy with Duck Brand Duct Tape. We are making duck tape crafts today, and up next, I'm going to show you how to make a duck tape rose. The materials you'll need are your favorite color duck tape for the petals and the stem, a straw, or any kind of floral wire for the actual stem and scissors. The first step is take your straw, and we're going to cover it today in green duck tape. You want a piece that's a little bit longer than your actual straw. Roll the piece flat and roll the straw up in it, and there is the beginning of your stem. Now I'm going to show you how to make the actual petal. Rip off a piece about three inches long of duck tape, put its sticky side up. Fold one corner over and then the other corner over. It doesn't have to be perfect because you'll hide it within the flower, and this is your first petal. Another way to do a rounded petal, is to start with a same step. Rip about three inches of duck tape, fold it in half with a little bit of the sticky side still pointing up, and just cut it with scissors. The rest of the steps for completing this type of rose is the same as the original type of petals that I was just showing you.

The next step is to take your petal and start wrapping it on your completed stem. The first one will wrap all the way around and kind of resemble a rose bud in the middle. Continue this process of layering the rose petals over, until you have a flower as big as you want it to be. And you can just pucker it out a little bit to make the flower have a little bit more shape too. Now we have a completed rose and to finish it off, we'll create a few leaves.

To make the leaves, you'll do exactly the same thing as you did with the petals, except now I'm choosing a different color, green. So rip off about two, three inches again, fold over the same sides and place it along the bottom of your rose. We'll add one more just so it covers up some of the bottom of the petals, and there is a duck tape rose. Try using your favorite fragrance in your rose to make them smell fresh and unique. Complete your rose by wrapping a container in duck tape to create a matching base. Be creative with your colors. There are more than 20 colors of Duck Brand Duct Tape available to use.
