Kristy Kalnitzky: Hi! I am Kristy with Duck Brand Duck Tape. Today, I am showing how to make duck tape crafts. Now, I am going to show you how to make duck tape flip flops. The first thing I have already done is take a piece of cardboard and trace two feet on here. You can either trace your foot or use a pair of flip flops that you already have. Cut them out and pick your favorite colors of duck tape and just start covering them. I am going to start with the top of the foot, so it leaves the ends of the tape hidden underneath.
So we have our covered foot of our flip flop. Next, I am going to create the strap that goes through the middle of the toes. Take a long piece of any color you want, I am going to choose White, and put sticky side up, fold it halfway to the sticky side, and then pull the other half down the other way. See I have a nice piece of duck tape fabric to work with. Now, you are going to poke a hole in the center where it would be between your big toe and your first toe. You can also use an X-Acto knife here.
Next, you are going to thread the duck tape fabric through the hole with the two open ends coming through the top. Once, it's threaded through the flip flop, you will want to secure the back portion down. Put the flip flop on your foot to adjust the straps to fit.
Once you have your straps adjusted to fit your foot, we are going to tape the straps down in the back. Be careful to keep it in the same location. To keep the strap together in the center, I am going to take another piece of duck tape, a few inches long, rip it or cut it in half, and then fold it length ways, just halfway through the tape, see you still have some sticky side coming out, and wrap around in the middle of the strap where the toe would go. And to finish off your flip flop, cover the entire bottom with another layer of duck tape.
To clean up the edges, either cut or fold the duck tape up, especially if it's the same color. See I have a nice clean edge around the entire shoe. And that's how you make a duck tape flip flop. Up next, I am going to show you how to make a luggage tag out of duck tape.
