Geremi Weiss: Hi, I am Geremi Weiss, Im an International gold medalist in figure skating for the US. Today were learning some basic hockey drills. Raya here is going to show us some forward one foot wiggles in a circle. She is going to use her outside and inside edges, she is going to try her best to stay on one leg all the way around the circle. This is going to build some strength in the quads so that you become a better skater. Alright, here we go, down and up, excellent, that outside edge is sometimes going to be held down a longer curve. The leg in the air is helping her moving it around, helps her keep her rhythm and her speed. Nice job, other side. She is going to go on her right foot now, outside and inside edges, keeping the continuous line through a round in a circle. Okay, were doing this on a circle, not a straight line, inside and outside edges, good, get that rhythm. She is going down up, down up, down up, down up, through the knees. Did you feel that through your quads?
Raya: Yes. Geremi Weiss: Excellent, thats the drill, its a forward one foot wiggles on a circle. Raya here is going to show us some backward one foot wiggle in a circle motion. Its going to built strength for her quads so she become a faster, stronger, better hockey skater. Alright, she is going to down up motion, good, using her outside edge, very nice, as the longer pull. Her knees are bending, her arms and shoulders are twisting against each other as she moves across the circle. She is going to go the other way as well, very good. When youre doing this drill you normally go around the circle one or two times, other foot. Good, down up, down up, using the knee bend and the shoulders are twisting against the hips. She is catching that outside edge and her inside edge. She is also staying on the ball to the front of her foot as she comes around the circle. Thats called a backward one foot wiggle on a circle.
