Mike Hedrick was born on the banks of the New River on the North Carolina Coast. He grew up on BBQ and Pulled Pork was some of his first solid food. After years of growing up as a country boy camping and cooking Mike began Grilling and Barbecuing. After years of cooking for family and friend Mike began his ongoing passion to make the best barbecue in the world.
In his first season on the National Barbecue Competition Circuit Mike's Pit Pirate BBQ Team had an amazing Three Top 10's and a 3rd Place Overall Pork at the National Capital Barbecue Battle on Pennsylvania Ave., Washington DC. Mike is now the proud Owner/Chef of Pit Pirate BBQ and does Catering from 50 to 500 and also Concession Sales and is currently looking for a Restaurant location.
Knowing that serving is more than food Mike organized "Operation BBQ for Our Troops: Walter Reed and collected up donations and and got other BBQ Teams to come and feed 500 of the wounded Soldiers and their Caregivers. When asked by the Assistant Secretary of Defense Health Affairs why he would go to such efforts Mike said “That sir. Seeing the smiles on their faces…the lord says to go and serve, and BBQ is just what I do.”
Mike is currently the Pit Boss and National Spokesman for Pit Crew Barbeque.

Mike Hedrick: Hey guys! Mike Hedrick, Pit Boss for Pit Crew Barbecue. We're going to some grill in this weekend, it'd be also great for a holiday weekend when you've got lot of your buddies and friends and family over.
What we're going to do today is we're going to start off with some deviled eggs. Everybody likes those on a hot summer afternoon. We're going to go ahead and give them a little bit of an atomic kick. My buddy CB from Sizzle on the Grill, he's got a batch of chicken drumettes that we're going to do. You're going to love that if we finished them off with a little bit of wine there at the end. We're are going to do some Kentucky Hillbilly Bone-in Pork Chops. We'll make some Hillbilly, well, it's going to be the whiskey we add to them. After that, we're going to do something that everybody loves, and it's easy to grab on to, and that's Veggies & Steak Kabobs. Those are going to be great!
We're going to marinate them in some soy sauce and some oils, until a lot of great flavoring. A grilled fruit is going to be next. We're going to do some pineapple on the grill, we're going to do some drunken peaches, you're going to love that! I'm going to finish it all off with some Red Eyes and Backyard Bloody Marys. It's going to be a cool thing, it's going to be perfect for this weekend. It'd be great for a holiday weekend as well.
Anytime you're messing around with hot grills and stuff, you just want to make sure that you use some long tongs and they'll let keep you safe from the heat. Anytime you're messing with poultry and raw meat, you want to make sure you sanitize and keep everything cleaned up.
Little bit about myself, as Pit Boss for Pit Crew Barbecue, we cover NASCAR and Tailgating, so we're usually at the races, we're usually behind the scenes, they're on Pit road and talk about the drivers and doing a little bit of cooking for those guys, and also out there in the Tailgating parking lot with you folks out there, in trying to bring everybody together.
So, we're going to show you a little bit of that today. We're going to start off with them, Homestyle Deviled Eggs with the Atomic Kick.
