Tom Nardone: Hi! This is Tom from ExtremePumpkins.

com. We're making a Cannibal Pumpkin, which is a big pumpkin eating a little pumpkin. Right now, I'm going to show you how to gut a giant pumpkin.

This is a good tip. First the tool, this is a drywall saw, it's about 7 inches long and it's used for making outlets in drywall. You can buy it at your neighborhood home center for about $6.

So, this is how we're going to do it, jab it in there. Cut a big plug. Alright, so I'm cutting this plug and I got my saw angled this way, which helps you pull the whole thing off. The next tip is, to make a little jog when you carve it. Don't just cut a round circle, put a little imperfection in it, and that will help you position the plug that you get into the right spot.

So here's my little jog in there. Make your hole big enough that you can get your whole arm in there, because this sucker is big, and it's going to take a lot. Just get the seeds out. Okay, peep, just getting tiring. I'm going to use my sawzall for this process. There we go.

As you can see these things are not thin. You definitely want a big tool to get through this process. So, hit your home center, if you're carving a giant pumpkin. So, now we're going to gut this thing out. I'm going to use an ice-cream scoop for that process, right here, and you just scrap them away. Throw it into the trash.

I bet you didn't know, that this thing probably isn't even a pumpkin. Probably, actually some type of squash, which actually makes them a little easier to gut. But the seeds don't taste very good, so don't bother roasting them. They're kind of big in fibrous these seeds, they're just yucky. Just scoop them away.

Sometimes these big pumpkins are kind of wet inside, they are pretty easy to scoop out. This one is like that. You can see this here, that's actually the bottom of the pumpkin. They don't grow very round, when they are this big, they kind of fall under their own weight.

When we come back we're going to fit the little pumpkin into its mouth and then we'll carve the mouth out, and stick it in there. We'll do the rest of the face well, it will be pretty menacing-looking. So stick around.
