Christopher Patrick: I am Chris Patrick. I am a special-effect artist and we are here today at the Tom Savini Special-Effect Make-Up Program at Douglas Education Center and we are creating a scary-scary zombie. We are starting right now by creating zombie teeth. I am going to use Sculpey III, a pliable plastic to make these teeth and really, I am just going to start by graping a little bit of this and sculpting in tooth shape. I always roll out a nice little root for the tooth, because you are going to need to embed it into latex and cotton. You are going to make, probably about 16 of these teeth. You are going to make one, a row for the top and the row for the bottom. I am just going to add some texture with a toothpick here and really, these can be as disgusting as possible. This is somebody who is risen from the death. They have probably haven't been to the dentist in a while. So, I am just going to cut some grooves in this and make him disgusting looking.

And then, I always want to take the end and add a little bit of texture to it so they even look a little broken. They have been eating through bone and such. Then you just put on a piece of tin foil or on a cookie sheet and you are going to make them in the oven at 275 for about 10 minutes. Be sure to watch them, you don't want them to discolor while they are in the oven or overcook. Alright, so we've left these zombie teeth bake for about 10 minutes and cool. So, now they are nice and hard. They are little pieces of plastic and I am just going to paint them and make them look a little more disgusting.

So, I have mixed up a nice yellow color for the teeth themselves and some black and I really watered these down. I have created a wash for these teeth. So, really, I am just going to grab a tooth and give it a nice little once over with the acrylic paint. Set it aside to dry for a few minutes and really I am just washing on a little of this color. You don't need it to be thick and you can make these whatever color you want. I always like them to look like they are nasty, old stained, death teeth. So, we will just continue painting all of these teeth and then letting them set and dry for a few moments and then we will go ahead and add some black to them, then bake then more disgusting. Again, I have watered down the acrylic paints so it's more or like a wash than anything else. I am really just going to make sure that a little black gets embedded in some of these crease that I carved into the teeth. We will make them worth a little older and a little more rotten and sort of diseasedSo, as soon as I have that done, I will let that layer dry and then we are going to go on to embed these teeth into a gum. So, we are going to make it out of cotton and latex.
