Betsy Sell: Hi! My name is Betsy Sell, Managing Director of AAA Travel Services.
Tom Wilt: And I'm Tom, Wilt Managing Director of AAA Partnership Programs. And today we are here to discuss how to plan for International Travel.
Betsy Sell: When travelling abroad there are many things to think about. We'll provide some great information to help make travelling internationally as easy as possible. We'll talk with you about the documents you need to bring with you, the basics of how to get a passport, which is required for international travel, or how to get an International Driving Permit, if you plan to drive while abroad, and the importance of travel insurance and when you needed and the different options available when taking an international vacations, such as escorted and independent travelling.
Tom Wilt: I will discuss the pros and cons of the different types of money available for use when abroad, such as traveler's checks, credit cards, and local currency. Then I will provide you with some easy tips you can use on how to save money for your dream vacation abroad.
Betsy Sell: I will also talk about how to plan for emergencies while travelling abroad, such as medical care, what to do if your documents are lost or stolen, and I'll provide some great tips on how to pack efficiently for your next trip.
We'll discuss the advantages and disadvantages of off season travel and how you can stay in touch with family and friends while on an international vacation.
Tom Wilt: You don't need too much to get started, but planning ahead is very important. You need to make sure you've all of your travel documents in advance and stored in the safe place.
Betsy Sell: When travelling abroad, safety should always be on your mind. Be aware of your surroundings, use commonsense, and leave a copy of your itinerary and important documents with someone stays aside.
