It all started in my early teens washing cars in the back of my fathers barber shop. After eight years in the United States Secret Service, I made an unsuccessful run for the United States House of Representatives in 1980. In 1981, I decided to start my own business, Pro Clean of Tysons Corner, Inc. After 26 years of success, we are still washing and detailing cars from Volkswagons to Rolls Royces and have grown to be one of the largest detailing businesses in the Washington DC area. “It takes more than a bucket and a hose to clean a car”, Washingtonian Magazine, 1986

Hi, I am Michael, Pro Clean of Tysons Corner, automotive cleaning specialist for 25 years. Today we are going to learn how to detail a car. Our friends at Capital Dream Cars has kindly given us this Bentley to work on. Some of things you are going to need first a hose, a nice nozzle in it, a bucket, pair of heavy gloves, some chemicals 409, Fantastic something like that is what we are going to use. Put a spray nozzle along it, put about eight ounces of it in the bucket, top it off with water about half full, and a mitt. We usually use on the tires and rims and stuff an older mitt, you dont need a new one, just use an older one for that. Alright lets get started here. Lets get your gloves on. We got all our doors open, got our trunks and our hoods open and everything. At first we are going to give a little white coat of water on them, because everything we use, all these chemicals we use are water activated. So we want to get a little bit of water. Just in the jams like that, on our tyres just like that, and try not to saturate the car. You are just getting it cleaned up a little bit so you can get ready to use the chemicals on it. I am going to get my hose untangled here and get the engine cleaned down here. Next, we are going to use the chemicals. Get it a little bit mist so it mist out on air, very lightly. Inside the jams, down the edges, shake it up a little bit. Get your wheels and in the rims and things inside the wheel wells. Down like that and well get to the motor in a second. Get your mitt, get it soaked. Bring it out, you dont need it too wet like that and then get your door jam. Just go inside the jams, get around the edges where all the footprints are and everything like that. Again try to keep off the interior, we are not going to well get to clean in the interior later, its not a big deal if you get some water on it, because well get that off. Take your mitt, and again dont put your hand inside of it. Use it in your hand like this and stuff in the cracks. Stuff it down inside there so that you get all the cracks and crevices. Come over here again, get down there make sure you get the bottom. You will cross the bottom like that. Then you come back to the trunk, we are doing the same thing in the trunk. Getting the edges, all the way around the edges and down inside just like that. Getting the basic edges of everything done. Get your water again, come back around very lightly again. Rinse it off. Obviously where its more dirtier, you have to use a little more effort. You might want to put a little more chemical on it so that very simple like that on the door jams. We will get to the tyre in a minute. Lets get this done first. Same thing here. Pretty much it, then lets grab the bucket here and knock off the tyre real quick. Get your same mitt out, go around the tyre, get the edges a lift, like this, inside your rims. Use your rim brush, and again all these chemicals, mitt, hoses all this stuff can be found at any Auto Part Store, anywhere Wal-Marts, K-Marts they all sell it very, very inexpensive. Alright, the final thing rinse off the tyre, make sure you get up inside the wheel well up in here. Get any loose stuff out there and thats pretty much it, and now we got to the engine. Finish off cleaning the engine.

Extremely Satisfied Customer by momof2vienna at 02/09/12 09:12AM Flag

My husband and I had two vehicles detailed inside and out last week. The owner was more than attentive to our vehicle needs. Our vehicles have never looked or smelled so good! ProClean gave extreme attention to detail and we were walked through the process and costs. No questions went unanswered. I recently reviewed Washington Consumers Checkbook which rated ProClean number one two years in a row in the DC/VA/MD area. I highly recommend this superior car detailing brush less business to e

Complete Hack by photousa at 10/29/09 01:54AM Flag

Whatever you do, do not follow this persons instructions, he is a complete hack. There are some great detailing videos on YouTube, please check them out. At the bare minimum, this person should have a professional "Grit Guard" wash bucket, and that's the least of his problems.

RE: white stripes by davidbrigham at 10/07/09 01:45PM Flag

While I do agree with your comment, wouldnt you think a car as expensive as a Bentley should be made well enough that it wouldn't be affected by such things as water???? I DO!

NOOOOO!! by clintthrust at 07/07/09 12:28PM Flag

That is all wrong!. If I were running this business I would remove this ASAP. Serious damage could happen spraying water so near to the electric seat mechanism. Stop!!.

lol wtf by sadiq823 at 03/13/09 09:01AM Flag

Wife: Honey, why is there a puddle of water on my seat? Husband: I don't know, I just had it detailed. Must be the damn neighborhood kids again.

Dear God by WhiteStripes at 03/08/09 10:27PM Flag

You can't honestly be serious. Those folks that lent you that Bently made a terrible mistake. People watching this video, do not follow his instructions, you will likely severly damage your paint. Just a few things he did wrong: The wheel brush had twisted metal holding the bristles in it and was exposed. That could have easily scratched the wheels. The interior of that Bently could have been Alcantara which would have been ruind by the water splaching on it when he sprayed the jambs d

WTF?!? by Leevip at 03/08/09 12:51AM Flag

you have 25 years working like this?? this is a bentley, what are you thinking?? Are you thinking...lol

OMG, please stop!!! by sleepy at 03/05/09 08:27PM Flag

Dirty buckets, old rags, using the same wash mitt to clean the wheels/tires AND the paint??? Dear God man, 409 is NOT an all-purpose automotive cleaner!!! Car care fanatics around the world are currently poking their eyes out and screaming in horror. DO NOT let this shop "detail" your car!!!!

by MirrorsEdgeDetailing at 03/02/09 02:57AM Flag

I feel really bad for the customer here. I can only imagine what they paid to have a Bentley "detailed" buy this dude. Watching this series is almost painful.

by attomica at 03/01/09 05:07AM Flag

You may have done this for 25 years, but you've been doing it all wrong. All of your stuff is filthy. That bucket you used looks like it came from a construction site. I can only imagine what crap is in the water you're dragging all over the paint. Harsh chemicals? Terry cloth rags? Give me a break! "Professionals" like you is why I will always detail my own cars.

Close but... by detail1 at 02/27/09 11:01PM Flag

You are half-way there! Keep practicing, you will get it.
