Laura Decarlo: Hi! My name is Laura Decarlo. I am a resume writer, and career coach who partners with job seekers worldwide to help them learn how to stand out from their competition. While your best strategy is to hire a certified resume writer to assist you, today I am going to go share with you the secrets that professionals use to help you craft your winning resume. I will walk you through how to make positive impression with your resume in 30 seconds so you can stand out from the competition, survive resume keyword scanning systems, and capture the interest of a perspective employer. The key elements I will explain include how to make your resume a strategic selling tool. I will discuss how to emphasize your unique value or unique selling propositions, how to identify and play out keyword competencies, and strategies for making the most of each section of your resume to create a document that wins you interviews. In order to create your new resume, you will need to have access to a computer, with word processing softwares such as MS Word. You will also want to gather any of your employment and educational data such as transcripts, diplomas, work evaluations and letters of recommendations. This is important as a reference for the data you will want to include in your resume. You might also want to print out some target job descriptions to refer to as you write your resume. Finally, it is also a great idea to have a pad of paper and a pen handy, for writing down initial notes or outlines. Before we get started, let me tell you a little about myself. I am certified expert resume writer, award winning job placement Director, author of three job search and interviewing books, and a contributor to over 19 published resume writing guides. While I have successfully assisted thousands of job seekers with their resumes and career, I have dedicated last six years to setting standards for the career services industry by training and certifying resume writers and career coaches worldwide in my role as President of Career Directors International.
