Transcripts
Greg Baumann: Hi! I am Greg Baumann, senior scientist for the National Pest Management Association, also known as NPMA. Today, I will be discussing Integrated Pest Management, popularly known as IPM. This specialty Pest management program has gained significant popularity within the past two decades. Yet IPM is often misunderstood or ill-defined. In an effort to provide you with a comprehensive view of IPM, I will be examining the tenants of this pest management practice, specifically how to properly implement an effective IPM program, the types of pest that IPM seeks to prevent, and finally the key to pest prevention tips for successful IPM programs. This video series is focused upon providing you with a better understanding of IPM but more notably the importance of pest prevention and partnership with a licensed pest professional. With that being said if you suspect any pest infestation, it's important to contact a pest professional immediately to address the problem. For the most effective and efficient treatment but also for safety, pest truly should not be handled on one's own. Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about the NPMA. The NPMA is a national non-profit organization located in Fairfax, Virginia with more than 6000 member companies nationwide. It was established in 1933 to support the pest management industries commitment to the protection of public health, food and property, whether through preventative or reactive measures, professional pest management is a necessary tool in maintaining public health and insuring the safety of public property. Now, let's get started learning about IPM.
