Mitch Baker: Hi! I am Mitch Baker with American Plant and today we are going to talk about April Gardening Tips, things you can do to get your garden off to a great start. So, we will start first with inspecting our trees and shrubs for any winter damage, and we will prune them as necessary. We will talk about annuals, perennials, and bulbs, what you can do to get them off to a good start. And your vegetable garden, what you can do right now, so that your vegetable garden produces great stuff all season long, and finally our lawns. What you need to do so that your lawn looks great for the whole summer. Before you get started, you are going to need some tools, a good pair of gloves, a pair of hand shears or pruning shears maybe lopping shears would be needed to do some of the pruning. A rake, a long handled shovel, a trove, those things are going to be necessary to do what we need to, in the garden. Safety in the garden is something we want to talk about, when you are doing pruning and among trees and shrubs, you might want to wear a pair of eye protectors, that's a good idea just in case you are working in close quarters like that. American Plant is a retail garden center in Bethesda with two retail locations. I am a Maryland Certified Professional Horticulturist with 34 years experience in the Garden Center business. So we've got a lot of work to do to get the garden ready for April. Let's get started.
