Mitch Baker: Hi! Im Mitch Baker with American Plant and today were going to be talking about gardening tips for May.
So well start by potting up two pots of annuals, one with sun-loving annuals and one with shade-loving annuals. Well then move on to our warm-season vegetables and herbs. For those of you who may have a small pond in your yard, Im going to give you some tips about selecting pond plants and getting your pond ready for the warm-weather months.
Well also talk about moving our houseplants outside for the summer. Theyll benefit from that. Finally, well move on to some tips about lawn care, what you can do to keep your lawn looking good through the whole summer.
Let's talk about some tools and materials well need today. For those weeds in the lawn, were going to need an old-fashioned dandelion digger. But well also talk about an organic herbicide that we can use to control some of those weeds as well. Were going to need fertilizer for all of these annuals and the vegetables that were potting up today. And a good pair of gardening gloves are always essential when were working in the garden.
Before we get started, a little bit about American Plant and myself. American Plant is a retail garden center with several locations in the Washington DC metro area. Im a Maryland-certified professional Horticulturist with 34 years of experience in the garden center industry.
So weve got a lot of work to do, let's get started on getting our gardens off to a good start for the warm weather.
