Hi, I am Mike Binns from the Virginia Baseball Club, and today I am going to talk to you about fielding a groundball, we are playing infield. The first we will talk about is our Ready Position. You will see a lot of fielders standing there with their glove on their hip or looking around or not ready, one foot behind the other, what we are looking for is a good athletic position when waiting for the ball. We are going to have a good wide base, our feet spread out a little bit wider than our shoulders, so little bit more than shoulder width. We are going to have our hands out in front, and we want to be on the balls of our feet, whether we are running, throwing, pitching, hitting, whatever we do in a baseball, or in any sports, we always want to make sure we are on the balls of our feet. So, we want to make sure we come though, we are on the balls of our feet, our hands are on front, we are showing the bat of that glove, we dont have that glove down or here. We are going to have those hands out in front, because thats how we are going to field a groundball. Next thing we are going to talk about is going to be our Creep Step. We dont just want to be standing still when that ball is hit, we want to start moving a little bit so we can be ready to react to it. So, when we are in a ready position, right when that pitcher gets ready to throw that ball, we are going to take two short steps forward. So, we are just going to go one, two, and now we are in perfect position, ready for that ball to be hit to us. So again, we want to have a good Ready Position, good wide base, hands out in front, then when that pitcher is ready to throw that ball, we are going to take that good Creep Step, which is just one, two, and now we are ready for that ball. That is our Ready Position and our Creep Step.
