Bill Weimer: Hi, I am Bill Weimer with Phantom Fireworks and today we are talking about the safe and proper use of consumer fireworks, and now we are going to talk about Fountains.

A Fountain is a device that sits on the ground and throws sparks up into the air 6, 8, 10, 12 feet in the air. It's a wonderful device that has multiple effects, multiple colors and some of them have great noise effects.

A cone is a single tube fountain containing a maximum of 75 grams of pyrotechnic composition. Some of these other fountains have multiple tubes, they can contain up to 200 grams total limited to 75 grams per tube. Then we have the 500 gram fountain that literally contains two-and-a-half times more pyrotechnic composition than any of these fountains.

When using fountains, of course, they should be shot from a level flat hard surface. Because the fountains really don't produce thrust effect downwards, you don't have to brace the fountains generally, unless you happen to have a particularly tall spindly fountain that may have a tendency to tip over.

You must respect the distance between the launch side and the audience, which Phantom recommends to be 25 to 30 feet. When you are done with the fountain and it has expended all its energy, the best practice is to douse it with water and then leave it overnight outside to cure until you dispose off it in the trash.

Now that we have covered the basics on fountains, let's move onto fire crackers.
