Transcripts
Mary Alexander: Hi! I'm Mary Alexander with Home Instead Senior Care. Today, I'm going to discuss how to best manage long-distance care-giving. These days most of us don't live very close to our parents. Educational opportunities and jobs have spread many families across the country.
Also, mom and dad maybe snowbirds and no longer live neither children; when a senior's health deteriorates and they are some distance away, it creates stress and anxiety for family members in regard to providing help from hundreds or thousands of miles away.
While long-distance care-giving does present some challenges, it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Also, by addressing issues in advance, you can ease your anxiety level and help your parents remain independent and healthy.
To help you, we've prepared a number of steps and ideas to guide you through the long-distance care-giving process. We believe that the information provided in this video series will help you make decisions that will benefit both you and your aging loved ones.
First, we will help you determine if your parents are exhibiting signs that they need care or just a little assistance. Next, we'll look at what you can and can't do from far away. After that, we'll make sure you're taking care of yourself and help you and with the support of others to create a team of caregivers.

Helping seniors is something Home Instead has been doing passionately for more than 15 years. I not only work for Home Instead, but I'm a Certified Senior Adviser.
