Arthur E. Morrissette founded the company in 1943 with little more than a used truck, $450 and a vision of providing quality moving services with "Top Hat Service." Ed Mattern: Hi! I am Ed Mattern with Interstate Worldwide Relocation. Today we are talking about how to plan for your move. And now we are going to tell you everything that you need to know about the day of your move. Plan on being present on your move day or having another adult as a designated agent, companies are not permitted to perform services in your home if an adult is not present.

This is the time that you want to get your children to the sitter and your pets to the kennel. You also want to conduct a pre-pack or a pre-move walkthrough with the crew. During the walkthrough, you will identify those items in your home that are being relocated that are special to you or may require special handling, and those items that are not to be relocated or any area of your home that is off limits to the movers.

You also want to have a designated bathroom for the crew to use. During the walkthrough is the appropriate time to show them where this bathroom is located. Any questions you may have, you may ask during the walkthrough as well. You also want to make sure that you have the appropriate contact information for the driver before he leaves, so that communication can take place during transit. Something else you need to consider is in-transit planning. You need to consider whether you are going to need hotel accommodations if your travel is going to take you more than one day. You also want to consider where you can stop and take routine breaks and eat.
