Christine: Hi! I am Christine with Merry Maids, and today I will be teaching you how to remove bathroom stains.

Hard water stains can occur on their on or in conjunction with soap scum. If you have both you will need to remove both.

If you are not able to determine which you have, take your nail and try and scrape it, if it scrapes off it's soap scum, if not, it's hard water.

If you have hard water stains the quickest solution is a product specifically designed for hard water deposits. Stronger limescale remover products can be purchased at janitorial supply houses and are safe on most surfaces, as long as you completely rinse the surface following application.

To be safe you should always read the manufacturer's warning before applying in your own home. When you apply the limescale remover to the hard water stains you should let it sit for a few minutes. You can try scrubbing the hard water deposits with a nylon-backed scrubber pad, and depending on how bad your hard water deposits are it may take more than one application.

If you want to try a greener product for removing hard water deposits you can try white vinegar or citric acid. Although citric acid might be a bit more difficult to find.

As with most stains prevention is key, if you live in an area with hard water, consider purchasing a water-softener and drying out your shower and tub after each use.

I hope all of these tips have helped and you are ready to now tackle your bathroom stains.
