Ken Estes: Hi! My name is Ken Estes. I am a fishing expert at L.

L.

Bean. I work in the Hunt/Fish Store in Freeport, Maine. Today, we would like to talk to you about what it takes to get started in spin fishing. We will be talking about the gear you need, the rods, reels, lures.

We will be talking about what a great activity it is for the whole family and how to get started. We will also be touching on casting techniques and catch and release techniques.

So now we would like little bit about, why go fishing? First of all, it's a great activity for kids. The whole family can stay involved. It's a very inexpensive sport to get started in and it's a real gateway activity into other sports. People go hiking, take their fishing gear, they go camping, take their fishing gear. This is a great activity that will stick with the children throughout their entire life.

Safety should always be number one when on the water. Having flotation devices on children, having pinched barbs on your lures, makes for easy hook removal. And just following good common sense when you're on the water, keeps everybody safe and have a great day.

First let me tell you a little bit about myself. I fished quite extensively in Europe, here in the United States and I started fishing when I was probably 5 or 6 years old, my father got me into the sport. I've been with L.

L.

Bean for going on 14 years in the fishing department. L.

L.

Bean is a company that has a rich heritage in the hunting and fishing industry. They have been in the business for going on a hundred years. So what do you think? Let's get started.
