Hi. I am Lisa Wilson, Family Health Counselor here in Northern Virginia. We are talking quantity. How much can I expect my baby to eat? The first thing I recommend is starting with lunch. As far as quantity goes you want to think the size of one ice cube. The reason we start with lunch is, especially, if you are nursing mom, you want to make sure that the baby is still eating a lot in the evening and still a lot first thing in the morning. The second meal we want to go ahead and add is dinner. Still thinking one ice cube, we are going go ahead and add breakfast. Once all three meals are in place, you can go ahead and add a little more for lunch, and a little more for dinner, and a little more for breakfast, working your way out to three ice cubes. So, how do you know when to add an ice cube or to add a meal? When you will be taking your cues from your baby, believe me, theyll let you know.
