Amy Willbanks: Hi! My name is Amy Willbanks. I am the Lotion Account Sales Manager here at Master Tanning.

Today, we are talking about how to get a great tan. Now, we are going to discuss how to care for that tan.

After tan, it's very important that you do apply an after-tanning moisturizer. There is a difference between the moisturizer that you can buy at the store or the moisturizer that you can buy at a tanning salon.

The one that are purchased from a tanning salon are intended to extend the life of your tan. They are loaded with all the nutrients and vitamins and minerals that are needed for your skin to stay healthy and replenish everything that you lose during your tan.

Also after you tan, you want to wait to take your shower. Your wait time can range anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the type of tanning lotion you are using.

If you're using an accelerator your minimum wait time would be two hours. If you're using a bronzer or a tingle you do want to wait anywhere from 4 to 6 hours before you jump in the shower.

The reason for this is, is if you are using a bronzer or a tingle it can cause it to streak or it can reactivate the tingle lotion. If you are having a burn while you are tanning you do want to use an aloe product. You want to use an aloe product because it does soothe the skin and it helps to replenish the moisture that you are losing from your skin.

With an aloe-based product I usually recommend using aloe that does have a lidocaine in it. The reason why I recommend the lidocaine is because the lidocaine actually numbs the sting of a burn.

If you happen to notice that you're getting white spots on your arms, your chest, or your back, those are called sunspots. The sunspots are actually caused by a fungus that is in your hair.

To prevent sunspots there's a couple of things you can do. You can use hair-cap while you are tanning. If you do happen to see the fact that you're getting the spots there is a product that is called Halt that will actually help to take those spots away. Also my number one recommendation is to consult your physician if you do see these spots.

So that's how you care for your tan. These great tips will help you get a deep, dark, healthy, long-lasting tan for all of your tanning needs.
