Hi, I'm Lisa Wilson, Certified Health Counselor here in Northern Virginia. If youve seen our previous clips you would know that we have been talking a lot about food combining, when and what to add to your babys diet. Were working on ages 8-12 twelve months. So, I just want to go through a few things here. First, I want to start with sugar. You cant avoid sugar in our society, so keep it out of your babys diet as long as you absolutely can. Processed foods, processed foods are full of chemicals and preservatives that you definitely do not want in your babys diet. So, again, strictly avoid them, keep them out of your diet, keep them out of babys diet for sure, as theyre developing and building theirselves. Plastics, this is not a first choice for serving food to your baby. You definitely want to keep it out of your babys lives. A much better choice would be ceramics or glass. In fact, they make sippy cups. Now, you can get a sippy cup, a little stainless steel one, you can go ahead and order those online. Yogurt, when youre choosing a yogurt you want to make sure its plain, you dont want the added sugars, and you want to make sure its from a quality farm and that its organic. Some of these flavors right here, these tastes, actually youre going to introduce in very small quantities, but you just want to put a little on your babys tongue, and get them used to tasting kind of that bitter test, so theyre acquiring that instead of the sugary taste. A little bit of buttermilk and kefir. If youre not familiar with kefir, the consistency is kind of between a milk and a yogurt, excellent probiotic, excellent for your digestion. Now were going to move over here to salt, spices and herbs. So, salt, okay, this is not your table salt. This is going to be a high quality sea salt. When youre thinking salting your babys food, its okay, go ahead and salt, but think micro pinch. So, youre just going to really just sprinkle a little tiny bit on, thats all they need. Its actually going to help digest their food and aid in digestion. Moving on to spices, absolutely, in other counties theyre spicing up baby food all the time. Again, you just want to think micro pinch. If you are encouraging an adventurous eater, someone who wants to try various foods in the future, go ahead and just add a little tiny bit of spice. The aroma, the babies are going to love the aroma. Herbs are a delightful thing to add to your babys food. Again, this is thyme, you can just go ahead, this is clean thyme, pinch a little bit off, add it right into your babys food. Youre going to want to blend this. Its just a delicious layer, another dimension to add to your babys food. So, enjoy the process.
