How to Select a Solar Electric Contractor
SolarWorld Authorized Installer Keith Knowles explains what a solar electric system does and how it can save a homeowner money.
Transcripts
Keith Knowles: Hi! I am Keith Knowles. I am a licensed Solar Contractor with LiveLight Energy and an authorized installer for SolarWorld, America's largest manufacturer of PV Panels. We are here today to take a look at putting solar on your home and we are going to learn a little bit about how to select a contractor and how they can help you install a system.
A Solar Electric System is a big investment that can save you a lot of money, but it's not really something that you can do yourself. That's why it's so important to find the right installer or contractor.
Solar Electric Systems, also known as photovoltaic or PV systems, turn sunlight into an electric current. And because it gets connected into the electrical grid, whoever installs the system must be fully qualified. We are here to help you select a qualified solar contractor who will give you the right system for your needs. We will talk about what kind of licenses and insurance to look for. Then after that, we'll cover the process itself, including the site evaluations, proposals, contract permits and finally commissioning.
When we are finished, you will be able to confidently meet with several solar contractors and compare their bids to get the system that's right for you.
Before we begin though, let me tell you a little bit about myself and SolarWorld. I have installed hundreds of kilowatts of solar systems and SolarWorld has been producing solar panels for over 30 years, some of the highest rated solar panels in the market today. So, let's get started.
