Transcripts
Sheilah Kaufman: I am Sheilah Kaufman cooking teacher, Cookbook author, Culinary Lecturer and Food Editor, and today we are making a fabulous caramelized onion, gorgonzola cheese walnut Pizza. We are using Canola oil, which is heart healthy and has a very high smoke point and is very versatile for cooking, baking, frying, anything you would need a good oil for.
These are the ingredients you will need:3 large red onions, sliced thin.
1 c Gorgonzola de dulche (or gorgonzola or blue cheese), sweet and soft.
1/2 c. walnut, slightly chopped 1 pizza crust.
3 tablespoons canola oil.
Salt and pepper.
Now, I use a pre-made crust from the can, and just got to put it in my pizza pan. You can use a round pan if you would like. I just want to; we are going to have extra. Stretch it out. You can roll it out if you like.
Now, we are going to take our caramelized onions, and to caramelize them, I took three tablespoons of canola oil in a large skillet and we are going to sprinkle them all over our pizza dough.
So now, we are going to take gorgonzola cheese. If you can get the le dolce, it's a much softer, sweeter. If you want to use blue cheese, you can use that.
And now, we are going to sprinkle the walnuts. Now if you want, you can use more cheese, more nuts, there is what I have given you is only like starter directions.
Well, now we are ready to bake, 475, for 15-20 minutes and your pizza will be ready to go.
