Ric Edelman: Hi! I'm Ric Edelman, ranked the number one independent financial advisor in the nation by Barron's. Americans are a generous bunch; as a whole, we donate more to charity than every other country on the planet. In this video series, we're going to be talking about how to give to charity. First, I'll give you tips on selecting a legitimate charity, then I'll explain the rules you must follow so that you can get a tax deduction for your donation. Third, I'll tell you how you can make a really large charitable gift that gives you income and the deduction. Finally, I'll talk about why it's so important to give. You'll also learn what you can do if your budget is too tight to give right now. Money doesn't come with instructions, but it does come with responsibility.
