Janet Riley: Hi, I am Janet Riley and I am President of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, and today I am pleased to take you on a culinary tour of hotdogs and sausages in America.
We are going to start by exploring the New York-Chicago rivalry, and you can choose which hotdog you like better. We're going to stop in Milwaukee where The Brats are king, and then we're going to pay a visit to Michigan and explore the Coney Island Hotdog. We'll swing through Cincinnati and try that Cincinnati Cheese Coning. We're going to make a stop in West Virginia and try their West Virginia Chilly Slawdog. We're going to Georgia for the Georgia Dog with slaw and Vidalia onions and then we're going to head out to west to finish up where we're going to sample the Sonoran Dog, and you won't believe the toppings that are on the Sonoran Dog.
One thing I have learnt, in my 20 years, as the President of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, is that people feel so passionately about their hotdog and sausages, in fact, it's comparable to how they feel about their hometown Bowl Teams. They always think the hometown dog is the best. We often have to do hotdog detective work for people who relocated from their hometown of Florida; they can't find that Boston Hotdog and that New Jersey Hotdog. We have to help them because other hotdogs just don't taste like that hometown dog. The National Hotdog and Sausage Council represent America's hotdog and sausage makers and together we produce the vast majority of America's hotdogs and sausages. We provide information, recipes and a great website where you could find information about hotdog history, hotdog preparation, and a lots of fun trivia so join me on this culinary tour. I can promise, you won't be disappointed.
