Travis Larson: Hi! I'm Travis Larson from Family Handyman Magazine, the leading DIY publication on the planet. Today we're going to show you how to fix squeaks underneath the floor when you have access like an unfinished basement with a little sap here.

I got a guy upstairs and you're going to have to find an assistant too to help your home man on this our next squeak. You just have this person jump around until you listen you can feel. Sometimes you can feel this squeak near the nail and it sounds like it's right here, so this is where we're going to do the fix.

We're start by driving shins in the gap. We're going to start with that, then we're going to cut those shims off. We're going to hammer these guys right into that gap. That will keep the plywood from settling when people were walking on it.

Now we're going to cut off those shims so they're not in the way for the subfloor adhesive. I am going to put adhesive stuff to bridge that gap between the subfloor and hold those shims in place.

Construction adhesive dries as hard as a rock and it's getting in-between that crack, so that subfloor is never going to move again. And it will also hold those shims in place.

And to make sure we filled that gap, I am going to take one of our shims and force that cock or that construction adhesive right into that crack for a permanent fix. So if you've got an exposed underside, follow those tips and you'll be able to fix any squeak underneath the floor.
