Transcripts
Bill Nunn: Hi, I am Bill Nunn, the Painting Consultant for The Family Handyman Magazine, a Leading magazine for Do-it-Yourselfers. I am here today to talk to you about painting interior walls. And, if you haven't tried a project like this yourself, I think you'll find that it's actually a fairly straightforward one to do. You can really transform a room with a new coat of paint or a new color.
In this video series, we'll cover a few of the main things you need to know, to get the job done well. Including the tools you'll need to do the job, which are fairly simple hand tools, not expensive to buy; you may even own some of them now. We'll talk about preparation and what it takes to get the walls in shape for painting, then a little bit about masking. There are a lot different tapes available, and you don't really have to go crazy with masking, but it's a very important tool. We'll spend a little bit of time talking about how to use the brush and how to create a nice line at the ceiling and around windows and doors, and then finally, how to roll out the walls using the Roller and Tray. Safety precautions for a job like this are not too big a concern, because we're not disturbing the paint too much, and we are not creating a lot of dust, but it's a good idea to have a pair of safety glasses on hand, maybe a dust mask.
Now before we get started, I'd like to mention a couple of words about myself and The Family Handyman Magazine. I'm the owner of William Nunn Painting at Minneapolis and have been in business here for 36 years, painting fine residential and commercial projects around the Twin Cities. Now as a painter, I try to keep it as simple as possible, so it's easy to produce the same results from job to job, and that's kind of the philosophy I want to share with you. The Family Handyman Magazine has been in business for over 50 years and is really the source for Do-It-Yourself, and Home Improvement Projects, a great resource for you, either in print or online.
Now, let's get started with our painting project.
