Hi! I am Tracy from Nutrition is Healing. Today, we are making healthy snacks. We are going to make a Tropical smoothie which is great for breakfast or any time of the day. Now, I am going to use rice milk, because lactose is intolerant. You can use any type of milk, regular cows milk, skimmed, almond milk, rice milk, and I am going to use yoghurt, which I decided to use a Greek style, unsweetened yoghurt, and its strained now, but most people who are lactose intolerant can tolerate yoghurt because, the yoghurt has the probiotics which are very helpful for your gut, and has good, positive bacteria in it, which is really good for a healthy, digestive system. I am using a cup of milk, and five ounces of yoghurt. Now, we are using frozen strawberry, banana, and mango, in a bag already. I like to use frozen fruits, because, its nice, and icy, and cold, rather than adding additional ice, especially when drinking it in the winter time, so, you dont get chilled. And I am using 16 ounces of frozen fruit. I am also using a tablespoon of agave nectar. Now, agave nectar is a sweetener, most of you are probably not familiar with. Its from the blue agave cactus, very low in Glycemic Load, its an excellent sweetener. You dont need a lot, because its quite sweet already, and it does not bother your blood sugar level. It goes into the blood stream really slowly, its delicious. Now, we are going to go ahead and blend the smoothie, that just takes a minute, and then well garnish it with the strawberries. We've blended our puree for about a minute. Now, this is fun and easy that children can actually do themselves, or help you in the process. The more kids end up cooking with you, the more theyll tend to eat it, and you can garnish the smoothie with a strawberry and it looks really pretty and appetizing. Thats how you make a Tropical smoothie. Next, we are going into making a creamy banana smoothie.
