Ed Modell: Hi! My name is Ed Modell. I've worked as a professional coach for eight years and I am a member of the International Coach Federation. Today I am going to discuss the importance of continuing your training throughout your career as a professional coach. When you decide to obtain a credential after you complete your initial coach training, it's important to complete additional training sessions over the years in order to maintain and renew your credential regularly. Part of the benefit of sustaining your credential is to demonstrate to your clients that you take ongoing professional development series. You may decide to obtain your continuing education through in-person events, online offerings, or even through telecourses. Many professional coaches decide to take a mixture of offerings. When you make the decision to join a membership organization such as the International Coach Federation, you'll have the chance to enjoy free continuing educational opportunities and discount fees for events such as annual conferences. Throughout my years as a professional coach I've continued my professional development by attending a mixture of both online and in-person educational events. Both types of offerings helped me with my coaching by introducing me to new ideas and research as well as connecting me with other likeminded professional coaches. Whether or not you make the decision to test for a credential independent for new coach training program. Continuing your development throughout your career as a professional coach is important. I encourage you to research carefully as you engage in your career as a professional coach.
