Honey Macaroon Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1 tube (10 oz.) refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/2 Tablespoon butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sweetened flaked coconut, lightly packed
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds, lightly toasted
- Whipped cream, for garnish
- Fresh fruit, such as berries, for garnish
- Mint sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
Whisk together cream and honey. Reduce over medium low heat by about 1/3, until mixture thickens and develops a light caramel color. Reserve. Shape pizza dough according to package directions. Spread butter over pizza shell. Sprinkle with coconut and almonds. Drizzle with reserved cup honey mixture; spread gently with a rubber spatula shell. Bake at 450° F until crust is lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Cool to warm or room temperature. Cut into 6 wedges. Garnish with whipped cream, fruit, and mint sprigs.

Mitzi Dulan: Hi! I'm Mitzi Dulan, Registered Dietitian and Sports Nutritionist. I love trying new recipes and finding fresh ingredients to make natural desserts. This recipe, a Honey Macaroon Dessert by the National Honey Board, is perfect for a small summer get-together. And here are the ingredients that you will need.
Now we are going to make the Honey Macaroon Dessert Pizza. And what do you want to start out within a sauce pan is three fourth cup half and half and then three fourth cup of honey. And a great trick to do it home is to spray, what you are measuring your honey with, with a little non-stick Cooking Spray.
Here again we want three fourth cup but spraying that will prevent it from sticking and it will also allow you to get a more accurate measurement. So, I am going to put both of these over a medium low heat.
See how easily that comes out of the measuring cup. I am going to whisk these together and really what you are wanting here is caramel in color and it's going to thicken and reduce a little bit.
You want to reduce this heat down to a little bit lower more of a low heat, and let that continue to reduce a little bit more. While that's doing that I am going to quickly take my refrigerated pizza dough, and also dough you can also get from the pizzeria, putting it on a non stick baking sheet here and simply just pressing it out.
Now I take my sliced almonds and simply sprinkle them over the pizza dough along with this coconut. It's about a fourth cup of each of these ingredients. Okay, so you want to reduce this sauce down. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes and then what you want to do is spread this all over the pizza dough.
You can get it to the sides here. If it little bit goes over that's absolutely fine, but make sure your entire pizza dough is covered. So then you want to take this and put it into a 450 degree oven about 10 minutes or until it's slightly brown.
Alright, so I have taken it out of the oven where it was in there about 10 to 15 minutes and let it cool. Now what I want to do is put some of the fresh fruit. We have some sliced strawberries, drop those sliced strawberries on here, some blackberries and you can just kind of spread these all over the pizza and we also have those raspberries.
So it makes it very colorful. And you want to just take a normal pizza cutter here and slice it into a sixth. Okay, so just put this on your serving platter. You can put a little mint sprig on there to garnish.
