Nancy Schretter: Now that you've booked your family vacation and you are all set to go, what else do you need to do? Lists, lists, lists, make sure to make your shopping lists and know what you need to do.
Think about, what you might want to do on your trip and make reservations in advance. This is particularly important if you are going to be going to a popular family resort and you want to eat at 5:30 because that's the best time for your child to eat, or it's the highlight of your day to go swim with the dolphins. Make those reservations very early. Work in advance and make a note of who you talk to so that you know that you have everything set.
Make your golf reservations. Make reservations for your pet, if your pet is coming with you or needs to be boarded. Think about that as well. Tell your neighbors that you are going to be gone, so people can keep an eye out for your house.
Make arrangements to have your mail picked up and your newspaper delivery halted or picked up by a neighbor, so that you are all set. But what's the most important thing to remember when leaving for your family vacation. Relax, have a great time, enjoy yourself. Remember this is about making vacation memories.
Again, don't expect perfection. Just expect having a wonderful time with your family. It's something you remember for the rest of your life.
