Transcripts
John Nielsen: Hi! I am John Nielsen with AAA Approved Auto Repair. We are all concerned about saving fuel and one of the easiest ways to do that is to plan our trips.
Now, we all think about planning the most efficient trip when we are going on long distance drive. But simply planning our trips around town can save fuel. Buy stringing our trips together. In other words, going from one point to the next to the next rather than going out and back home and out to another one, can save fuel by reducing the distance we drive, but also a warm engine is more efficient than a cold engine.
Another great tip to save to some money is AAA TripTik Mobile. It's an application that runs on both Android and Apple phones and we'll show you gas prices near where you are and also where you are heading. That allows you to take a look at the price and help decide on the lowest price fuel when you have to fill up.
In our longer trips the way we pack our vehicle can make a difference in the fuel economy we get. Taking unnecessary items as extra weight can reduce the fuel economy and by putting things on top of the vehicle, car racks, and carriers really does reduce the fuel economy. So, try to get everything inside the car and we can save fuel. So, doing a little advance planning can help us save a lot in fuel cost.
