Hi. Im Wendy from Adeler Jewelers and now were going to talk about how to recycle, redesign or refashion the jewelry thats in your jewelry box. Many times you come across pieces of jewelry that no longer reflect our personal style. We wonder to ourselves what to do about that. Well, if the piece is something that can be refashioned, you might look at that piece in a different way. If you have a pin that does not reflect your wardrobe, so you no longer wear suits, so this does suit as a lapel pin any longer. You may want to think of it as an adornment to a hat, to a scarf or even as a belt buckle. If youve got a pair of earrings that are very festive, a little more cocktail than what is your style, you may find that they will very nicely dress up a pair of basic black shoes or basic color pumps. If you find that youve got a strand of pearls and you just dont think that you will wear those pearls you may want to consider not wearing them as a necklace but wrapping them multiple times around your wrist as a bracelet. Many times thats more useful approach to wearing pearls and will give you multiple uses. If youve got a piece of jewelry that is particularly sentimental your other option is to find a way to incorporate that into your jewelry wardrobe.

This is a really nice way of catering memories and that is in a charm bracelet. This particular charm bracelet holds a piece of history which is a baby ring. Many times youll find that you have pieces of jewelry that are not intrinsic in value with a precious metal. So, you might have the fraternity pin of your grandfather or a pin that was rewarded to your dad or brother for a different occasion and you may want to adhere that through sorter process on a disk of some sort in 14 carat gold and then that would become a charm suitable for a charm bracelet or for a sterling silver charm bracelet. So, that is one way to keep memories intact and add them to your jewelry wardrobe. Another way to do something of that nature is you may have inherited the wedding bands of members of your family that are very sentimentally valuable to you and you can take these to your local jeweler and have them melted down and if they dont have to go through the refining process, you can make a religious figure out of them, you can make a disk or a charm, you can make baby rings out of them to pass down to grandchildren so thats a creative way to refashion pieces of jewelry that have sentimental value, even if they may not have a tremendous amount of intrinsic worth.

If you have a piece of jewelry that you like the components but you dont like the style you can think about redesigning them. You can take the diamonds out of a cocktail ring and make them an eternity wedding band that maybe more useful to your lifestyle. So thats another way of looking at the pieces of jewelry, checking out if you like their components but not necessarily their design, you can redesign those into something that suits your style.

And lastly, youve taken the pieces of jewelry that you like out of them so the center stones and youve refashioned those into new pieces and you can simply trade the remaining mountings and to offset the cost of the labor or as scrap value. I hope thats useful to you when evaluating your jewelry inventory.
