Jamie Page Deaton: Now let's talk about the seating in the Mitsubishi Outlander. We will start up here in the front in the driver's seat.

Most car reviewers are pretty pleased with the space up here. They say there is plenty of legroom and plenty of headroom. Now most of them don't mention how comfortable the seats are but generally that means that the seats are just fine if they don't talk about them.

Most models have manually adjustable seats but because we have a higher-end GT Trim with the optional power seats it's easy to find a comfortable driving position.

Now let's talk about the second row seat here in the Mitsubishi Outlander. Most car reviewers say the space back here is good. There is plenty of legroom and there's plenty of headroom, there are seats for three across but several reviewers point out that if you are carrying adults they will be more possible if you are just carrying two.

There is also space for two car seats here. Back here in the third row space is tight. In fact almost every review we read of the third row seat said it was suitable only for very small kids and most of them also said the kids wouldn't be very happy back here.

Now that's pretty typical for a compact SUV with a third row but as you can see I'm back here and my knees are touching the back of the seat in front of me and actually to fit back here we had to move the back rest of the back seat forward a little bit. So whoever is sitting here is probably not going to be very comfortable.

Another downside of the third row seat is that there's very little padding here at all, it's pretty much just fabric slung on the frame. So it feels more like a hammock than an actual comfortable seat.

Another downside of the third row is that to get back here you have to flip-and-fold the second row out of the way and we notice that those seats were a little bit heavy and cumbersome and the controls were sometimes hard to use.

So the bottom-line in the seating in the Mitsubishi Outlander is, the first two rows are comfortable, the third row though really isn't. Still that's typical for a compact SUV.
