Richard Posluszny: If you look at a pack up and disappear for a while, the Jeep Grand Cherokee probably isn't the SUV for you. Although, it's a mid-sized SUV, it's just a little light on cargo space. Let's see just where it falls short.

When it comes to cargo space in front of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, there is just about space for anything you can imagine. As you can see we have this center console cubby here which can fit something about the size of a wallet, telephone, just about anything you can imagine.

Then we have these two cup holders which are generously sized, so you can fit just about anything the size of big go. And this armrest here is pretty deep and can hold a bunch of CDs. Another nice little touch is that the two front doors have large cutouts for bottles about this big.

And if that's in value, a highly doubt that this rear cargo area will value either, that's because with the second row up, that's just over a 36 cubic feet of space in the rear. When you fold the seats down you only have just over 68 cubic feet of space.

Some problems that we noticed is that the rear tires are a little bit intrusive into this cargo space so it makes it a little bit narrower than some may prefer. Also shorter people might have a little bit of trouble loading stuff into the back here because of this forward, it's a little bit higher than most SUVs.

If you are looking for something bigger you might want to check out the Toyota 4Runner, which has nearly 89 cubic feet of space when you have the second row folded down. That's a lot more than the Grand Cherokee has to offer.

Cargo space is where the Grand Cherokee gets knocked down a few pegs. With cargo room upfront that's nothing special, in rear cargo space it doesn't pick up the slack, the Grand Cherokee isn't a great choice if you've got a lot of gear. Watch our other videos to see which SUVs might be a better fit.
