Chris Maxa: Hi! My name is Chris Maxa with the Kite Loft. Today, we are going to learn how to fly a kite.

In this segment, we are going to choose which kite is right for us. There are many different factors in determining which kite it is thats right for you, location of where you are, how much wind you have, the strength of your wind, the size of your flying field and your kiting ability.

Today, I have several kites that we are going to talk about. I am going to show you and we are going to pick one thats right for us and we are going to get flying. First kite I am going to show you is a Classic Diamond Kite. This is the old Ben Franklin special. We all have heard the fable about Ben and his key; this was the kite that he used, not just exact one, but a replica.

A diamond kite is your classic four sided kite, symmetrical, two cross pieces and a vertical spine running. This kite is a great beginner kite, perfect for a young child, an adolescent or an adult. Anyone who really enjoys kiting, this kite flies perfect and low to medium in somewhat strong winds, a very nice option. Another choice that you can choice is a five-sided Penta Kite. Obviously the five points in Penta gets this name because of that; a wonderful option for beginners intermediates and advanced kiters alike, it loves most wind conditions. You will note that it has a skeleton of spine and several spreaders thatll allow you to really maximize your kite flying fun, another super choice.

A very popular kite as well is a Delta Shape Kite. This is probably the best flying of all the shapes of kites. Delta a Greek letter, is triangle, you can certainly see that holds true here. This kite is a very simple kite to assemble as well as to fly in all wind conditions. A simple crossbar on the back and a spine allow the kite to fly beautiful in most situations. Thats the kite we are going to choose to fly today. We are located at the beach. We get good, smooth, steady wind most of the time, so I have chosen a larger delta for us to perform on. Next, we are going to go on and show you where to fly.
