Cheri Hennessey: Hi! I am Cheri Hennessey. We are here at the Christmas Attic today to show you how to decorate a truly special Christmas tree.
The best way to put lights on your Christmas tree is to remember two key things. One, you want to wrap your lights on the branch, so that the least amount of cords are showing. When you are moving from branch to branch, going around the tree, or going up and down the tree, you want to make sure those cords are in the inside of the tree.
If you switch branches on the tips of the tree, your tree will look beautiful from distance, but when you get up close all you will see are cords. And now we are going to place garland on the tree. Add your largest ornaments, tuck them into the tree. Take your medium ornaments; evenly distribute them through out the rest of the tree. Then you want to take a couple of dozen small lightweight ornaments and put them on the edges. If you would like to, you can go ahead and top that with a beautiful ribbon. Don't forget to put a tree topper on top of your tree; a star or an angel, and also a tree skirt underneath to finish off a look.
The most frequent mistake that people make is they decorate just the outside of the tree; they don't gave their tree any depth. You need to move some of your ornaments to the inside. Go ahead and pry open your branches, as well as decorate the tips of the tree. But another problem is that people usually have a mixture of ornaments and they don't use any kind of a unifying theme. All you have to do is use some small ornaments, a ribbon, and a garland that are all coordinated, put this on top of your family collection, and your tree will look elegant.
Well, now you are ready to go and decorate your Christmas tree. Don't forget, have a Merry Christmas!
