Sherry Tyra: Halloween is upon us and it's time to celebrate. Decorate the outside of your home to welcome in the harvest season and the impending trick-or-treaters. Harvest silks are great way to capture the spirit of the season. Garlands and wreaths really dress up the front door. A silk swag curved across the tap of your mailbox and wired underneath will add a hint of full charm. If you are looking for a little more flair, pumpkins and mums are an inexpensive way to add a punch of color and bring in the feeling of fall.
Try using last summer's flower urn and fill them with dried flora to create beautiful Autumn inspired topiaries. For the Halloween enthusiasts, you can easily create a festive scene on your front porch. The base of this ghost is made with recycled tomato cages, topped with the Styrofoam ball. Cover with some white fabric, a felt face and some Halloween lights and you will have a gooish guard at your door. The scare crow is made up of newspaper stuffed clothing and a LIFO pumpkin for his face. Lanterns help light the way for the trick-or-treaters. Add in inexpensive element of creepy with spiders and spider webs to finish off the scene.
Let your imagination run wild. It's easy to bring in the spirit of the season with a few inexpensive items and a little ingenuity.
Happy Halloween!
