Tim Doyle: When looking to buy a new electronics product, make sure to do just a little bit of homework on the environmental attributes of the product you're looking to buy.

Here are some tips for looking for the most eco-friendly products. The Consumer Electronics Association Survey found energy consumption was the third most important attribute to consumers buying electronics behind features and price. In recent years, the power needed for LCD TVs has fallen 63%. For Plasmas that figure is 41%.

Look for the Energy Star label and ask about new labels for TVs with detailed energy use information.

Energy efficiency games are being made cross product categories. So, a few extra dollars to the point of sale can easily be made up in your monthly electric bill.

EP products broadly consider all the environmental attributes of products. You can find a list of those products at ep.

net.

Another way to save energy is converging your devices. Instead of having a printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine, an all-in-one printer can function as all four.

A smartphone functions as a phone PDA camera. This will save you time, money and energy.

So when you're shopping for that new electronics product, make sure it's the most efficient device you can find to save you money and resources.
