John Basedow: Hey guys, John Basedow here with some wakeup exercises to help get you motivated for the day and put your foot forward in a positive direction. Now to begin with, I have some stretches and power yoga moves that I call Basedow's basics and they begin with reach for the stars and then you go press into the right, press into the left, then back up to reaching for the stars and then we get in a few other stretches in there, like for instance, shoulder stretches forward, shoulder stretches back, chest and back stretches and then we go down bringing it to inner thigh stretch. And triangle position, some power yoga moves get in there too to help you get in touch with your body. This workout is for the body, mind, and spirit.
Another way you might want to start your day is with a little bit of morning cardio. One of my best fat fighting tricks; anything that gets your heart rate up helps you burn fat at a record rate early in the morning because that's when your blood sugar and your insulin levels are low and stable. That's when fat cells are most vulnerable, so hit them at that time first thing in the morning. If you're not used to it in the morning because a lot of people are going to be saying to me, oh John, I just don't have the energy to exercise in the morning. I didn't either when I first got started; however, when I added morning exercise just the stretches, just morning cardio into my routine, it's changed my whole life. The reason is it breaks the chain. Right now you're on a certain chain of habit that's giving you a certain result. If you're not happy with that result, you've got to take that chain and break it. One good way is to simply inserting something different into your morning, and that carries through your entire day. As I always say, if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything.
