Brian Alden: Whether you're looking for a way to supplement your income or earn a little extra cash for the holiday gift-giving season, there are plenty of opportunities out there for part-time, temporary, or seasonal employment.
Businesses that hire part-time seasonal employers include shopping malls, big-box stores, online retailers, and resorts of popular travel destinations. Jobs are being ranged from retail and customer service to restaurant staff, and shipping and receiving. Opportunities can be found by using online career sites such as job.
com, your local newspaper, or by visiting the career pages of a business's website. There are some things to keep in mind during your seasonal job search; be flexible and keeping up neat attitude. Seasonal jobs generally require night, weekend and holiday hours, and employers are always looking for people who maintain a cheerful demeanor. Also, remember that while seasonal job is temporary, it can be a great way to get you foot in the door at a company and prove your abilities. It's also important that you apply early. The best time you'll be looking for a seasonal employment is before Thanksgiving. And remember, those seasonal employments only last a few weeks or months out of a year, you can add valuable skills to your resume and help you land an extra earning job.
