John Basedow: Without fail millions around the world commit to lose weight in the New Year. By approaching your new exercise driven-self with a plan, you'll set yourself up for success before you even step foot in a gym.

Tip number one is making sure you don't do too much too soon, take it easy and start with what you can, when you can. Even 10 minutes to 20 minutes of simple stretches and body-weight only exercises is a start.

Tip two, is don't be discourage. Remember that the number one reason for failure is expecting too much too soon. If your weight loss plateaus after a few weeks or you find yourself getting bored try adding your class or outdoor activity to your routine.

Tip three, move forward with baby steps, simply do one thing each day to add to your fitness program and by the end of the month, you'll be thirty times better.

Tip four, get a workout buddy. Having a friend depending on your workout will hold you accountable for showing up, it also means you have a friend to boost your confidence and encourage you when something seems too hard to accomplish.

And finally tip number five and my favorite is reward yourself, but make sure it's food related. Book that vacation you have always wanted and show up your hot body, you took a step to changing your life and you deserve a reward for it.

By following my tips for sticking to your New Year's goal, you'll have all the tools you need to make an important lifestyle change and get the body you have always wanted.
